Espadrille wedges are sneaking back into the cool kid crowd, and there’s no better summer to get yourself a new pair. It makes sense when you think about it, because it’s the perfect way to get back into your heels, but do it comfortably.
Let’s start with the classics, shall we? You can count on Vince to make a great version of a classic, and their brown suede espadrille with a criss-cross upper is no different. I also love the black, two-band wedge with a trendy crossover top band.
This all-braided, slightly lower heel from Matisse is so versatile, you could wear it with any outfit and even any style. It’s preppy and boho at the same time.
There was a period of time when espadrille wedges were not seen as particularly cool. I’m not saying that I cared, because the shoes are an absolute classic, but it did mean that there wasn’t a lot of variety out there. Not true anymore. Look at these insanely beautiful Aquatalia wedges with wavy, artistic lines. They’ll instantly add a little pep to your summer uniform.
Raffia wedges are a micro-trend, too, like these Carrie Forbes sandals that feel equal parts country club and beach resort. Plus, they come in three fun colors. Paloma Barcelo’s woven braided shoe uses natural textures similarly, but it feels fresh in an inky black instead of the expected tan.
Not ready for a true heel? That’s okay! Try a platform instead, so you can get a little height without sacrificing any comfort. I love this pair of black Carrie Forbes slides, as well as this black pair with a dash of snakeskin trim for extra style points.
