The British have always known how to do high-street well. One of the newer brands, Aligne, has been making fashion waves in the fashion crowd for their high-quality fabrics, clean lines, and (of course) fair prices. Round out your wardrobe with some of their elevated basics for your most stylish summer yet.
For me, this summer is all about skirts and dresses. I don’t know where it came from and I don’t know how long it’ll last, but I’m craving the easy, breezy femininity of a skirt these days. On the dressier side of things, this macaron pink A-line dress keeps things crisp with a single center pleat. I’m thinking a pair of barely-there sandals and a few chunky bracelets. The Parks dress is a similar silhouette, but in a deep indigo denim that dresses the silhouette. Think fashion, not farmer. And speaking of high-fashion denim, this sleeveless striped cream-and-blue option is another great example.
Smart separates might have roots in American sportswear, but the British are taking a crack at it. I love this simple, easy-to-wear strapless linen top. I would wear it with my favorite white jeans and a colorful sandal on nights out. Even on hot days, I still find myself reaching for button downs. The balloon-sleeve detail on the striped-blue-and-white Normandie blouse pairs well with tailored shorts, your favorite jeans, and could even bring some crispness to your wrinkliest linen pants. Vests, or waistcoats as the Brits would say, are everywhere right now. The longline, blue poplin version with black buttons is a great way to feel properly dressed in the summer, combatting some of the sloppiness of a normal tank top.
