Like my friend Mark Sikes often points out on his Instagram: there’s just something special about blue and white. It’s classic but still current, preppy but still cool, casual but still glamorous. This color combination always looks good, whether you’re dressing for the day or dressing your table up for a dinner party. With the days getting longer and temperatures getting warmer, we can’t get blue and white off of our minds.
When I think blue and white, my first thought is stripes. It’s so nautical and crisp, and there’s nothing crisper than a button-down. I’m obsessed with the oversized shape of this H&M shirt and this one from AYR. You’re still going to need a sweater during the summer, so why not pick up this bold striped cotton navy and white sweater from J.Crew now?
It’s not all stripes, though! I’d wear this embroidered tunic over white jeans with leather slides all summer long. And speaking of slides, both of these pairs of mules, one floral and one butterfly, are perfect to slip into.
If you need something a little bit warmer, this cashmere one will do nicely. This cotton poplin pj set in gingham is adorable, and perfect for warmer nights. Sometimes, you need a perfect pair of pull-on pants in navy and white.
Now that you’re dressed, let’s move on to the rest of your home. Switching out your decor for blue and white is a perfect way to refresh your space for the season. A little bit of chinoiserie goes a long way, and I love this bowl as a centerpiece.
How about a watercolor-inspired tablecloth? Doe-skin patterned throw pillows in indigo and white? A gingham lacquered tray that can gracefully hold your remotes on Netflix night, but also your next socially-distanced cocktails? Finally, how about a new garden stool for your backyard? When we’re all vaccinated this summer, you’re going to need all the seating you can get.
