The best thing about a personal uniform? Being able to tweak it for every season so you always feel like you. During this weird in-between season, a uniform is especially helpful. It can’t get much easier than bootcut jeans and t-shirts – all you need to do is throw on a cute jacket and classic boots to take you to the next level.
I’m bouncing around here, but I can’t wait to talk about the star of this outfit: the trench!!! There’s just something about a trench coat that says, “I am a woman who has her s*** together.” Maybe it’s the belt tied around your waist. A trench provides a strong shape tied or untied, collar popped or not. I love this olive green Gap Icons trench for the oversized lapels, AYR’s Espionage trench for it’s slouchy, lived-in cool, and Zadig & Voltaire’s greenish-brown La Parisienne trench for its classic-with-a-twist vibe.
What are you going to wear under the trench? Later, maybe a nice cashmere sweater. But right now? The perfect white t-shirt. I’ve started wearing my Michael Stars t-shirt again pretty regularly, along with this perfectly soft ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo shirt.
The bootcut jean is officially BACK, and they’re also my go-to jean this season. I love how they balance out proportions which creates a universally flattering silhouette. I really love them in a super dark indigo wash. It makes it easier to dress them up or down. Over and over again, I’m drawn to MOTHER Denim and this time it’s no different. Their Runaway jeans have the perfect amount of flare. Frame’s Le High Flare which has a super high waist.
We’re all dreaming of boots, right? I’m not the only one who’s sick of rotating between my two actually cute pairs of sandals? I want a pointy-toed black boot with a comfortable heel! More specifically, I want this pair of Chloe boots with an interesting curve element to the heel. But I would happily settle for these more reasonable March Fisher LTD booties.
