I still love a good little black dress or black pants, but there’s just something about navy lately. It’s flattering, it’s still dark enough, but it’s a little bit softer. It just doesn’t feel quite as harsh. Navy is all-American, super-classic, and totally chic. Whether you rock it head to toe or just wrap yourself in a navy cashmere sweater, it’s going to look great.
Let’s start at the top and work our way down. I’m talking about outerwear, baby! I’ve had coats on the brain ever since it hit 65 degrees in LA, and this J.Crew quilted puffer is perfect for layering. This Madewell cloth coat will carry you all the way through the winter with its sharp lapels. Finally, this Herno down jacket is a stylish way to keep you warm through serious snowfall.
On to sweaters! J.Crew’s striped poncho is easy to style and even easier to throw on for a day of fall activities. Of course, they also have cashmere: in either a relaxed crewneck, relaxed roll-neck, or classic-fit crew. Ralph Lauren’s lady-like sweater has puff sleeves and a bow, for those feeling a little more femme. Bloomingdale’s cashmere cardigan is absolutely classic.
A sweater vest is a little more out there, but I’m so into it this season. Mango’s gilet and Madewell’s half-zip vest both look great over a button down and jeans. Jenni Kayne’s cashmere Fisherman’s sweater is a luxe basic. Vanessa Bruno’s turtleneck sweater dress is an instant outfit, which I would style with tall boots. You can always throw a blazer on top of your outfit too, whether it’s this Bristol pinstripe option from J.Crew or a more fitted version from Theory.
Finally, let’s talk about shoes. Jenni Kayne’s leather pointed-toe mules go with everything, and the navy leather is especially gorgeous. These J.Crew velvet Mary Jane flats feel especially festive for the upcoming holiday season.
