Eartha Kitt once said she only ever wanted real estate or diamonds. While this list isn’t quite that far-fetched, consider this editor gift guide the Eartha Kitt of ours: luxurious, glamorous, and very aspirational. This is the wish list of all wish lists, and we’d be thrilled to unwrap any one of these this holiday season.
When I think of a big gift, I actually think small. Yes, I’m talking about jewelry. Lucy Delius is one of my favorite up and coming designers and Christmas is the perfect time to get my first piece. I’m thinking something practical, like these chubby blackened gold hoops I could wear everyday. Roxanne Assouline’s chunky gold chain necklace brings life to any t-shirt.
On the other hand, you could go very, very big. Like this mega-sized, super gorgeous Bottega Veneta suede tote in a rich sandy vanilla color. This is a bag that will last your whole life! All seasons! I feel just as passionately about Metier’s Private Eye bag, which in my opinion is a much chicer ladylike option than the Row’s Margaux. I also love DeMellier’s small dove gray tote, clocking in at a fraction of the previous two bags.
One of my favorite gifting tricks? Upgrading something you already have. You probably have a black belt, but is it as beautiful and practical as this Loewe leather option? You have pajamas, but are they as fun and glamorous as Sleeper’s feathered set? You have a go-to long sleeve blouse, but is it as interesting and architectural as Issey Miyake’s iconic top?
Your closet shouldn’t be the only thing that gets refreshed this holiday season. If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, my Dyson hairdryer is the hardest working piece of equipment I own. It makes blow-drying a breeze once you get the hang of it. And for displaying on your vanity, what about a gorgeous selection of Westman Atelier makeup brushes or a beautiful bottle of perfume, like Byredo’s Mojave Ghost?
