The best part about In The Groove? Being able to connect with so many interesting, fashionable women on TikTok and Instagram who prove that age is nothing but a number. Five of those influencers will be bringing their own unique style perspectives to our email today, by showing us their must-haves for fall. I’ll let them take it over from here!
Dian Griesel aka @SilverDisobedience
Before Dian created her blog Silver Disobedience, she built a career as a PR advisor and strategist. Now, along with her blog, she models with Wilhemina NY. For Dian, fall is all about setting the mood with dark, rich colors instead of her usual neutrals. A rich red instant-dry nail polish and Clinique’s cult-favorite Black Honey lipstick switch up her beauty routine. Fall also means getting back into black, and this bag she found on Amazon is “perfect for running all over NYC, fits my two phones, iPad and an extra pair of shoes”. A black leatherette pant from AG is “a consistent fall to winter favorite” and a chunky pair of black-and-white Converse finish out her list.
Nada Jones aka @thisislibertyroad
After 20 years as a consultant, event and content creator, Nada created and hosts the podcast Liberty Road, a place where women are challenged to reimagine life after 40. Nada’s picks are all classics with a trendy spin, like these horseshoe Citizen of Humanity jeans that bring cool girl edge to the wide-leg moment, a blue-and-white pinstripe ALC button-down, and a navy-and-cream checkered print Kule sweater injects new life into the cardigan. This Alpha Industries navy bomber is a perfect way to kick off coat season.
Gym Tan aka @californiaistoocasual on TikTok
After a career working in fashion in Singapore, including President of DKNY Jeans International, Gym moved to California in her 50s. More recently, she’s become a TikToker thanks to a viral video with her daughter. Her picks for the season are all about building a foundation, like this navy Jenni Kayne cropped cocoon sweater which is “a year round staple over striped tees and jeans”. Speaking of jeans, this cropped wide leg H&M jean is her new go-to, especially when paired with splurge-worthy Marni ankle boots that “appeals to my sporty sneaker wearing tastes”. A matching black set from Djerf Avenue and an Ulla Johnson clutch with a “mix of hard and soft, masculine neutrals in this soft feminine shape” round it all out.
Tamsen Fadal aka @tamsenfadal
Tamsen is an Emmy-award winning journalist, author, and menopause advocate who champion’s women’s health on TikTok. Tamsen is embracing fall with her eye on leather (and faux-leather) wardrobe building blocks, like these Alexandre Birman slingback pumps and high-waisted Paige joggers. The always-cool Proenza Schouler takes on tie-dye with their subtle, elevated t-shirt in a fall-y forest green. Cult Gaia’s show stopping gold spiral Ramala earrings and Amini Pernille’s lady-like black leather envelope purse can take any outfit from everyday to the exceptional.
Kate Martindale aka @katemartindalestylist
Kate has worked as an art director, interior designer, and prop stylist for celebrities like Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow. You can watch her new show, Capturing Home, on Magnolia Network. Kate’s picks are the perfect balance of style, trends, and comfort. These Closed Denim slouchy jeans are “my new obsession” and she’ll wear them “with the best fall blazer and boots”. No.6 Store’s cropped, slouchy brown suede pants are “baggy but still look stylish” and a great non-denim option. This Burning Torch black jumpsuit is “ so great for a quick out the door outfit”. And in non-clothes territory, she swears by Gaelle Organic Ultra-Sensitive Cream when her skins needs a little extra moisture. She loves all the glassware from Rose Ann Hall, but these hand-made in Mexico etched wineglasses are her favorite.
