I know better than anyone that trends come and go, but the perfect cashmere sweater lasts forever. I love having a roster of pieces I know I look and feel good in, no matter what. Below, I break down my everyday uniform and favorite pieces for you.
White Tee
The elusive perfect white t-shirt can do everything. You can wear it to lounge on your sofa, as a perfect layering piece under a blazer or sweater, and even dress it up with some jewelry. Here are my favorites: Madewell’s ribbed crewneck, Anthony Thomas Melillo’s slub cotton crew, Everlane’s box-cut crewneck, and Splendid’s v-neck tee when I need to switch it up.
Jeans
I like my denim on the straight and narrow. Straight legged, that is, with a high-waist. SLVRLAKE’s London pair is the Holy Grail for me, but Everlane’s cropped pair is in heavy rotation, too. If I’m doing a skinny jean, it’s gotta be J.Crew’s iconic Toothpick jean.
Cashmere Sweater
Cashmere always feels good. This year, I’m relying on J.Crew’s classic crewneck sweater in a couple different colors. I like having a dark, a light, and a brighter option. I keep reaching for Everlane’s cashmere henley, too.
Gold Chains
No matter what I’m wearing, if I have a gold chain on it automatically feels stylish. I feel dressed, and I feel cool. It doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot, either. I love Laura Lombardi’s trendy, wearable pieces like this choker. Brinker & Eliza’s thick braided chain is more of a statement. Julie Vos’s coin pendant necklace is understated and classic.
Denim Shirt
I love a good Canadian tuxedo, as you can tell by the header image. I think there’s something so classic and Ralph Lauren about it. Personally, I like to go with a lighter denim top and darker wash on bottom. This Good American shirt with denim pocket is perfect. J.Crew’s version has a ruffle neck and sleeve detail that elevates it.
Sneakers
I can’t imagine going back to sky-high stilettos. Right now, I’m all about a pair of sneakers with dresses, pants, skirts, you name it. Golden Goose is definitely a splurge, but I love this pastel pink pair. But you don’t need to splash out big to get a big look. Nike’s Daybreak sneaker is sleek and chic. Stan Smith’s are classic.
