While boot season is lurking right around the corner, don’t skip over the shoe of the season: the updated Mary Jane. It’s an easy way to add a dash of femininity to your jeans and sweaters, without sacrificing your feet to a high heel. Below, our favorite pairs for fall.
So, if we’re talking classic Mary Jane like the one in the header image, you’re thinking of something like this pair from Cole Haan. They’re sleek, simple, black, and go with everything. Oh, and they’re shiny! French brand Larroude also makes an incredible version, albeit at a higher price point. I love the slightly rounder toe reminiscent of your old ballet slippers. If you want something a little less showy, then this pair of leather Veronica Beard shoes or these Le Monde Beryl shoes get the job too, with a slightly thicker strap.
But not everyone is into minimalism. Some of us, myself included this year, are interested in something on the flashier side. These silver J.Crew shoes or these gold J.Crew shoes will satisfy even the biggest magpie among us with their flashy fun. In fact, you can count on J.Crew for a few different fun variations on the season’s biggest trends. Look at the crisscross straps on these leopard-print flats! What about a hot pink variation from Me + Em in a cowhide finish, complete with cute gold square buckles.
In fact, texture is a great way to make your shoes feel extra special. These espresso colored crocodile embossed Emma Parsons shoes are stunning, and will only look better with age. Velvet, although a less practical choice for winter weather, will make every day feel like a Christmas party. I love these rusty ginger or these cherry red Loeffler Randall shoes.
