There’s just something about navy. It’s a color that’s a little bit more forgiving than black, a more colorful neutral than beige, and a little more low-maintenance than white. It’s also one of the rare colors that works just as well in the dead of summer as it does in the crisp fall air. One of my favorite ways to wear navy is as a comfy sweater. I wear my $50 Quince cashmere sweater religiously, and yes – it really does look that good in person! For something a little heavier, Jenni Kayne’s fisherman sweater is ribbed and extra-cozy. I love the half-zip version, which feels a little sportier. And of course there’s always J.Crew’s classic crewneck, or their chic little cardigan.
A blazer is a perfect piece that can work as a jacket now and you can wear underneath a heavier jacket later. Nili Lotan’s splurge-worthy boyfriend jacket is as sleek as it gets. ME + EM’s double-breasted version with gold buttons feels a little more everyday.
Navy is also an easy color to layer into your uniform of neutrals. Let a peek of navy out from underneath a brightly colored sweater for a more grounded approach to colors. I love this long sleeved tee or this tailored button down.
In my opinion, navy accessories are incredibly underrated. I do think blue leather loafers are a fun idea for fall. Especially with a chunky black lug-sole. I would pair them with black trousers! This Bibi Lou Zagreb pair is a little more classic and streamlined. I’m pretty sure Elvis would think these blue suede Jenni Kayne mules are worth investing in. Or forget about the blue suede shoes and get yourself a blue suede bag, like this Berkeley suede one.
