Rattan is one of the most versatile textures out there. It’s elegant, casual, and oh-so-summery however you use it. Our rattan edit is full of pieces for your home and your closet. Whether you need to update your tabletop with unexpected placemats, treat yourself to a new tote bag, or are protecting your pretty face with a sharp hat, you can always rely on rattan. It can even make the jump to big statement pieces, like outdoor furniture that makes lounging look good.
When it comes to your closet, I love a little bit of rattan sprinkled through for some added texture. Usually the easiest way to do that is with accessories like bags, shoes, and hats. You can dress up rattan or dress it down, like with this perfectly casual but polished everyday monogrammed bag with a bamboo handle. A hand-painted beach bag, leather market backpack, or woven beach tote will get you through all of your summery activities. For date night, indulge in a ladylike YSL bag or mini woven clutch.
I’m obsessed with these easy-to-wear, easy-to-style raffia flatforms, and these Teva-inspired sandals with an espadrille bottom are the chicest way to rock the trend I’ve seen so far. You can go classic with a nude leather and heeled espadrille shoes for all the newfound outside events you have to go to.
Rattan is also one of my favorite things to sprinkle throughout the house, whether that means gorgeous oversized baskets for storage or lanterns for lighting up the backyard. My newest home obsession? This woven, completely washable rattan woven thermos. It’s perfect for coffee or orange juice, and pretending you’re somewhere incredibly fabulous. Go for it with your tabletop and add rattan placemats, serving utensils, or even a seagrass-wrapped pitcher and glasses.
Finally, how about an outdoor lounger? They add a touch of glamour and elegance to what is essentially sitting on the floor.
