Stripes? For summer? Groundbreaking, we know. But there’s just something about the pattern that feels especially right on a sunny day. Stripes can be pretty, sporty, preppy, nautical – and we found pieces that do it all. Check out our stripes edit for your new summer wardrobe MVPs.
A striped tee is as summery as it gets, especially in my favorite color way: blue and white. AYR’s chunky stripe on a soft tee is the ideal roll-out-of-bed top, in a lighter blue or a true navy. For a boxier, structured fit, I’ve been eyeing this La Ligne shirt in green and white. I love the scoop neck and longer sleeves which gives it a more formal feel. Their long sleeve Lauren tee also plays around with the stripes in geometric, modern ways for an edgier take on the classic French tee.
But the world of stripes is so much wider than just t-shirts. Don’t limit yourself! Bridge the gap between tees and sweats with Frank and Eileen’s jersey popover, complete with a cute collar. Rails has a shirt with a bit of a puff sleeve and a cropped fit, for an element that feels a little more polished. I also love this perfectly slouchy sweater from Mango or this easy-to-layer lady jacket from J.Crew. For a less French take on the shirt, I love Me + Em’s more minimal stripe in an indigo blue.
An easy, poplin-y pant from Alex Mill is the perfect coverup for your next beach day. In fact, a striped pant might be one of my go-to summer formulas. J.Crew’s wide-leg pant in a nautical sailor-y silhouette is perfectly proportioned with a wide stripe. And speaking of J.Crew, their dresses have felt especially elevated lately. This drop-waist striped cotton poplin dress is absolutely a summer garden party dream.
