I’ve been thinking a lot about totes lately. Maybe it’s because I’m venturing out to farmer’s markets and beaches (masked, of course!) but my fanny packs aren’t cutting it anymore. Instead, I’m obsessing over extra-large, extra-colorful totes that feel fun and even a little summery, with plenty of room for hand sanitizer, a good book, fresh flowers, a towel, or whatever else I might need on an outdoor adventure.
Chances are, whatever your activity, a J.Crew Montauk bag will do the trick. It comes in hunter green or navy blue, and you can even add a monogram. You’re probably not going on a safari this summer, but Madewell’s canvas tote in a utilitarian khaki green with leather strap will make you feel like you are. And if that doesn’t do it, maybe this leopard-print canvas bag will!
You can’t get more summery than this Mango tie-dye, tied-up bucket bag. The blue and white color reminds me of something straight off a luxurious Greek beach. I’ve had a soft spot for smiley faces lately, and Kule’s canvas tote with the iconic Have A Nice Day is a fun update to the classic.
Alex Mills’s mixed stripe bag in red and blue is classic All-American dressing at its best, and would be a great bag for whatever Fourth of July festivities you’re fantasizing about this year (vaccine willing!). Kule, the brand known for the nu-preppy vibe, nails the summery tote with their navy and tan striped bag. Isabel Marant’s striped nylon weave bag is heavy duty enough to handle any terrain you might throw at it, and big enough to pack all of your necessities. We could all use a little more hope in our lives, and this Chloe bag is an instant dose of it.
