For a lot of people, this is the first holiday season in a while that involves travel. With vaccines and boosters out there, it finally feels safe to fly to visit our loved ones. Since it’s been a few years, it’s the perfect time to refresh on the travel essentials from the perfect suitcase to a cozy shawl to comfy shoes. Because why shouldn’t you fly in style?
Sweats
A monochromatic suit in a luxe fabric like cashmere is the easiest way to elevate your airport look. Banana Republic’s camel colored cashmere joggers are a great place to start. You can even get into the holiday spirt with some velour, like this suit from Gap or this dusty pink one from J.Crew. Into something a little more low-key? We love Cuyana’s black fleece hoodie and leggings.
Suitcase
If your suitcase is looking a little worse for the wear, there’s no better time to treat yourself to a new piece. I got a Rimowa carry-on for the holidays a few years ago, and it’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten. This Arlo Skye suitcase has a front pocket for easy access. I love the utilitarian look of this canvas-and-leather Bric’s bag. Just need a duffel? This navy, tan, and olive bag is beautiful. Don’t forget the packing cubes!
Jacket
Look, it’s cold out and on the plane. Don’t forget to grab your favorite puffer on your way out of the door. I love Jenni Kayne’s sage green version, but Banana Republic’s khaki jacket and Toast Society’s pale pink puffer are favorites.
Shawls
What did I just say about it being cold on a plane? Bring your own cozy shawl so you don’t have to rely on a gross airplane blanket. Cuyana’s oatmeal recycled cashmere shawl, Madewell’s navy cashmere travel wrap, ADAY’s washable travel scarf, and the cashmere wrap poncho from Saks are all-stars.
Comfy Shoes
A stylish pair of sneakers will work on the plane, and as the perfect walking around shoe when you get to where you’re going. Not to mention they definitely jazz up any sweatsuit. I’m obsessed with these Air Max Furyosa sneakers, which are colorful but still neutral enough to go with practically everything. These Pegasus 3s and Free Run Trails also do double duty as gym shoes.
