The Gifts We Want Guide is here, and you can feel free to send anything from this list ahead to the In The Groove offices. We write amazing thank-you cards.
There are bags, and then there’s Bottega Veneta bags. With a new creative director at the helm, the brand has taken on a cult-like following for the elegant, sophisticated pieces that we’e been craving ever since Phobe Philo left Celine. Their Medium Intrecciato woven leather tote is the kind of bag you would wear for the rest of your life, and quite frankly, we need it.
There are quite a few gifts that fall into the “expensive, but worth it” category, like the Cartier Tank watch in gold and brown leather. It is so unbelievably chic, I swoon every time I see one in the wild. Retrouvai, a new jewelry line that’s making waves, first caught our eye with their Yang-Yang pendant necklace. It’s the perfect balance (get it?)of dainty but sturdy, and what’s not to love about onyx, opal, and diamonds? And let’s throw in another Bottega Veneta bag for good measure.
But not every year is going to be the gift of a lifetime, and there’s plenty of things that we would happen with that are more reasonably priced. Polaroid’s new old camera would be so much fun to have around at any family gathering or our next dinner party. A stunning black-and-white framed picture of Sophia Loren is the perfect reminder to live la dolce vita as often as possible. An incredibly elegant and modern gold ring. A Rihanna coffee table book that she released instead of a new album.
