July is kind of a weird time, stylistically. Even though it feels like the summer speeds up after the Fourth of July, there’s still two whole months before I can even let myself think about fall fashion. That means it’s the perfect time to stock up on easy summer pieces like slip dresses, fun gold chains, a jean jacket for breezy nights, and of course a chic pair of slides. These are the kind of things I’m loving for July, but can keep loving all the way through summer.
Slip Dress
A slip dress is like the holy grail of clothes: it’s comfortable, easy-to-style, and always looks incredibly polished. That means you can feel like you’re in PJs, even if it looks like you’re on your way to a cocktail party. I love a silk-y, slinky option like this black Vince dress, this Vince indigo dress, or this Madewell dress. But you can go casual too! This tie-dye maxi dress, this floral Joie dress, and this Jenni Kayne leopard print dress are undeniably fun.
Gold Chains
A gold chain can make anything feel better – it’s like magic. Wear with your favorite t-shirts and jeans or dress it up and layer them for more look. Whatever you want! This Jennifer Fisher extra-long, extra-large chain is very 70s and Halston-esque. Eliou’s Sai necklace is a lot of look for a very good price. I love the choker length and scale of the links. This Brinker & Eliza rolled rope necklace is an understated classic.
Jean Jackets
J.Crew always has a perfect jean jacket, and Madewell can always be counted on for denim, too. I love the oversized structure of H&M’s denim jackets, which come in two colors: a light wash and a dark wash. A fun way to subvert the usual denim trends? Throw on a jean jacket in white!
Slides
You need a great pair of slides. These puffy, cream-colored H&M sandals are an interesting way to add texture to any outfit. Continuing the puffy slide trend, this black pair of braided sandals from Seychelles is an easy option for every outfit. Speaking of texture, how about these rope-y slides that feel like you should be on a yacht?
Clutch
Finally, after a year of fanny packs and extra-large totes, I’m excited to start using cute little clutches again. Loeffler Randall’s ruched leather bags come in buttery camel and a beautiful beige. Oroton’s large black leather quilted bag is a great way to get the Bottega Veneta look for less. Finally, a wicker clutch is perfect for those long summery nights.
