Every month, I fall back in love with clothes. Not just the pieces I know and love already, but the thought of getting dressed up and of trying something new. So, that’s the general theme of what I’m loving for May. Yes, there are a few old favorites that need a little refresh, but there are also some statement pieces to help you ease back into the wonderful, wild world of leaving the house again.
Fun Skirts
The minute I saw this royal blue and white polka dot skirt from J.Crew, I gasped. It feels so fresh and current, with a little bit of Lucille Ball nostalgia for good measure. This Studio 189 patchwork skirt keeps the blue and white, but gives it a boho spin.
This Tory Burch pleated skirt is a little more subtle, in a neutral khaki but with delicate floral embroidery. And on the more maximalist side of things, this Farm Rio maxi skirt in a bright fruit pattern is perfect poolside or at cocktails.
White Tees
You can never have enough white shirts, and with summer coming up, it’s time to toss your old, tired ones and stock up on crisp new ones. Try Everlane’s Cotton Crew is a classic fit, COS’s boxier shirt for a looser fit, and Splendid for a v-neck. Finally, try COS’s linen t-shirt for a breezier option.
Slides
New year, new pair of slides. You can always go for a trusty minimalist leather pair, or you can embrace one of this season’s trends and go for fun details and colors like bright pink and braided leather straps.
Canvas Bag
When you’re going out into the world, you need something to put your stuff in! After a year of not needing a purse, now’s the time to treat yourself to something special. I get compliments on this modern canvas and leather tote every time I wear it, and this tone-on-tone beige leather Hereu bag has a similar vibe. I love this neon green-and-blue bandana tote for the beach, or a cheeky smiley face tote to take to the farmer’s market.
Gold Bracelets
The more bling, the better. Create your very own arm party with a stack of glittering gold bracelets. Go for a classic snake option for a slinkier look, or stack some of cult favorite Laura Lombardi’s affordable bracelets.
