The cool, casual look that still manages to be effortlessly stylish is an American staple. There was Gap in the 90s, and Jenna Lyon’s J.Crew, and now there’s Everlane. What started off as a direct-to-consumer online only brand focused on perfecting the white t-shirt has turned into the go-to for elevated basics. From the perfect jeans to affordable cashmere, Everlane has cornered the market on creating basics that are anything but boring.
If it sounds like I’m gushing, it’s because I am. Their sweaters, specifically the affordable-but-still-nice cashmere ones, have slowly taken over my wardrobe. I know that these sweaters are nice enough to last me through several seasons, and with the price tag I don’t have to feel guilty about stocking up. The Cashmere crew is a great place to start, and of course I can’t forget about the Cashmere Square Turtleneck.
Their jeans are universally flattering, and come in a wide range of sizes. I’ve been wearing their Bootcut jeans non-stop, and just got a pair of the Summer Jeans for when I want a baggier fit. Their shoes are classic with a modern influence, and the perfect way to update your shoes in a subtle way. The Modern Chelsea Boot is a wear everywhere, do everything in them kind of shoe, and the Editor slingback is so elegant that even Audrey Hepburn wouldn’t be able to resist.
As I shift towards a more thoughtful way of purchasing new clothing, it also helps that Everlane is as eco-friendly and transparent as possible. It’s just a little something extra that I can do, and that makes me feel good.
