There’s something so springy and optimistic about tie-dye. It just makes me smile. And the fashion world seems to agree, because tie-dye is everywhere. This isn’t the childish, camp-like tie-dye of yesteryear, either. It can be elevated and playful, and even downright chic.
One way to streamline the tie-dye look is to stick to one color. For me, blue and white tie-dye keeps things beachy and fun, but still grown-up. Tory Burch has an amazing collection out right now featuring navy and white, perfect for chilly summer nights. This french terry crewneck sweater, this longsleeve t-shirt, or this casual hoodie are some of my favorites.
It’s not just Tory Burch, though! Cool kid label Proenza Schouler’s yellow and green top is definitely a statement thanks to the color palette, but it’s pretty minimal when it comes to the actual tie-dye. This pastel Anthropologie sweater would look amazing with white cropped jeans and a fun shoe. The mauve and pink tie-dye jacket feels really elegant and super modern thanks to its Japanese influences. How about a silk smocked dress for all those hot summer days ahead of us?
Of course, there are plenty of more casual ways to rock the dye. I’m talking about sweatshirts! But you can always dress it up, especially with one as great as this Clare V. Deep purple option with a fun red lip applique. Madewell’s white and gray one is a really subtle take on the trend.
Shoes are a great way to get in on the trend in a less committal way. How about pastel slides or pink and blue socks? Finally, rainbow Crocs. Because they’re the perfect gardening/kicking around/make you smile shoes.
