Summer is not the time when I feel the most inspired about my closet. The hot weather takes away a lot of options, you know? So, the ITG editors put together a list of the 10 pieces they bought for the summer. The kind of thing they keep reaching for again and again, and know they look good in. Pieces that seamlessly fit into our existing wardrobe, and make us feel a little bit better about getting during another hot day.
White Dress: Nothing’s more summery than a breezy white dress, and this tiered, linen maxi dress from Anthropologie ticks all of the boxes. I especially love the short sleeve length, for those who are worried about your upper arms.
Straw Hat: Protect your neck (and your face)! I’m over my tanning days – what I really want is sun coverage, but make it chic. This straw hat with a cute fabric band feels old Hollywood and glamorous.
Feminine Blouse: We all need a go-to blouse that you can throw on with white jeans, chinos, Bermuda shorts, and linen easy pants. This Free People romantic, ruffly blouse is mine this summer.
Skirt: This beige cotton maxi skirt from Zadie is an infinitely wearable updated take on eyelet. The beige color is a little unexpected, and you can wear with espadrilles now but sweaters during the transitional period.
Bling-y Flat: Alexander Wang’s Anya Flat is a perfect high/low mix. The crystals make it seriously glam, but the leather flat makes it just as easy to wear poolside with a coverup as with your favorite trousers and blazer.
Stack of Bracelets: Let’s bring the arm party back! A stack of mix-matched bracelets adds fun to any outfit. Beads, mixed metals, chains, you name it. Get a little bit of everything with this Bauble Bar stack.
Rainbow Crystal Necklace: This large stone necklace is a whole lot of look for a little price, which is one of my favorite combinations. This necklace can be boho, it can be chic. You can buy multiple and stack them. It goes with your favorite white shirts or a little black dress.
Leather Slide: Yes, I love my new sparkly flats, but a girl needs a down-to-earth everyday shoe too! These camel Margaux slides are the perfect pair.
Straw Tote: A bag for the beach, a bag for long weekends away, a bag for the farmer’s market. Mango’s big jute basket bag is a heavy hitter and effortlessly stylish. Even if you’re in workout gear.
Sunglasses: Celine’s modern cat-eye sunglasses are definitely a splurge, but sunglasses are the perfect finishing touch to a summer outfit and this shape will be classic for years.
