For the past few seasons, corduroy has felt a little dated to me. Not particularly chic, and definitely not something I was rushing to add to my closet. But suddenly, it’s back in a big way, and I have to say, I’m loving it!
There’s something about that slightly retro, ’70s vibe that really speaks to me. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of my favorite pair of pants from high school. And while I have absolutely no desire to relive high school, I wouldn’t mind having those pants back!
What I love about corduroy now is how effortless it feels. It’s comfortable, has that wonderful texture that makes even a simple outfit more interesting, and comes in so many great colors. Think rich chocolate browns, olive greens, deep burgundies, and of course, all those beautiful neutrals.
And let’s talk about texture for a minute. I love clothes that have a tactile quality, and corduroy brings that little something extra without trying too hard. Whether it’s a great pair of wide-leg pants, a relaxed jacket, or even a skirt, it’s an easy way to add a little personality to your wardrobe.
The key, I think, is keeping the rest of the outfit simple and letting the corduroy do its thing. A great sweater, a crisp shirt, or your favorite tee is really all you need. So yes, corduroy is officially back in my good graces. And this time around, I think it might be even better than I remember.
