With spring cleaning around the corner, we’re all about simplifying. This list of 10 wardrobe essentials should be in the back of your mind as you dig around your closet and swap out your sweaters. These pieces make up a capsule collection for spring and summer, and you can mix-and-match them to your heart’s content. From a pretty pastel t-shirt to a new striped bag, these are the pieces you’ll reach for all season long.
Jean Jacket : A classic fit jean jacket in a slightly faded blue wash ticks all my outerwear needs. It’s boxy enough that I can wear with a light sweater or long-sleeve tee. It’s not too heavy, so it’ll work for chilly summer nights or particularly breezy afternoons.
Jeans : You know I love a fresh white pair of jeans, and this pair of Mother Denim jeans are really, really good. I love the ankle length and mini-flare which will work with sandals or boots. I love the high waist.
Pastel T-Shirt: Slowly but surely, I’m working more color into my wardrobe. It helps that ATM, who makes my favorite white t-shirt, has branched into pretty pastel shades. Pink, seafoam, lavender, lime, cornflower – these are all easy to wear shades.
Sandal : This season’s sandal is in my favorite saddle shade. For maximum versatility, it’s pretty low-key. It’s neutral but still minimalist, with a few cute straps and white stitching. There’s a bow, too, for a cute added detail.
Chinos : Frank & Eileen’s chino pants come in twelve different colors, and are the perfect marriage of California cool and Italian charm. They work as well in the garden as they do out for drinks .
Bag : You can always rely on the French for a good stripe, and this canvas tote from Rue de Verneuil satisfies all my spring urges. It’s in a cheery navy, lime, and white color palette. It comes with a crossbody strap. What more could you want?
Sundress: This blousy maxi dress from COS is covered in a lovely pink-and-purple floral print that will help you fit right in for all the upcoming al fresco dinners. And the fact that it’s made out of lightweight cotton so you won’t be sweating through it.
Hat: With more time in the sun on the horizon, make sure you protect your pretty face with a chic straw hat. This one from Hat Attack is perfect for the beach, farmer’s market, or even pool-side for some vintage Slim Aarons-inspired glamour.
Shorts : It’s not all lounging about in the spring. If you’re hitting the links or even just running errands, you’re going to need a pair of shorts that you can dress up or dress down. These Vince shorts are the perfect pair.
Skirt: When you’re ready for a ladies who lunch moment, look no further than a full, floral skirt. It’s easy to pair with a white t-shirt, or just your favorite cotton sweater for something a little more polished.
