I love skirts, but sometimes I have a hard time styling them. Enter: 2-for-1 dresses. I love the look of separates – without any of the hard work of figuring out what top goes best with the bottom. Just throw on some boots and your favorite jewelry and you’re ready to go!
In the header image, I’m wearing this mixed media 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. I love the contrasting colors and textures, the utilitarian canvas of the skirt and the cozy knit of the top. The wrap silhouette on the skirt is super flattering, but feels more modern. It’s just one of those dresses that feels special! I know I’ll wear it just as often in the spring. And…there’s more!
I am obsessed with the designer’s layered look dress, too. White button up top, sophisticated navy skirt on the bottom! It feels very Dries van Noten to me, which is one of the highest fashion compliments I can give. The drape of the top, the structure of the skirt! It’s exactly the kind of effortless/unexpected I strive for in separates, built into the convenience of one!
There are plenty of more casual options, too. Anthropologie is so good right now, and their Gemini silk-and-sweater combo (in chilly grey and rose!) is a perfect throw on and go outfit when you need more than sweats but don’t have the time. The pale lilac one might seem springy, but I love it as a variation on winter whites. Leopard is shaping up to be one of the biggest trends this season, and I love the print on the bottom half of this AllSaints dress.
