It’s been a while since we had to use a purse. Whenever I’ve left the house this year, which has been rarely, I’ve used a fanny pack to keep things hands-free and clean. But since I’ve been vaccinated, it’s time to bring out the purses again.
You know I love a neutral moment, but I am trying to work some more color into my wardrobe. A perfectly cobalt blue purse is an easy way to inject a pop of color, and I love the structured shape of the Mansur Gavriel bag. Plus, as far as colors go, blue goes with pretty much everything. It comes in orange, too, if you’re feeling the hue for summer. The white-and-hunter-green color palette of this Avenue bag is modern take on the lady who lunches bag.
Medea is known for their stark, minimalist purses that look like shopping bags but I love their updated ‘busted bag’, which features their Italian leather, just perfectly broken in. Mansur Gavriel’s Lady Bag in a buttery beige is the perfect smaller purse. I also love a geometric shape on a smaller bag, like this padded, quilted & Other Stories or this origami-inspired Mlouye bag.
A little bit of texture is always a great way to add a little bit of drama to your purse game, and this black rattan Jenni Kayne bucket bag is a great example of how plain black can be completely elevated. Anthropologie’s black woven rattan bag comes in a trendy, half-moon shape and is a great way to get the look for less. The bamboo handle and grasscloth body of this bag practically scream spring, but it’s a classic enough shape to last you for many springs to come.
