Sandals are the perfect shoe for right now. Since we’re almost to the middle of the summer (how did that happen??) and (still) in the middle of a pandemic, real shoes have never looked less appealing. My espadrilles are sitting in my closet, gathering dust. My strappy date-night heels are nothing more than a memory.
My usual summer sandal is minimal and neutral. Basically anything that looks like it could have been made by an old shoe cobbler in the Mediterranean. If you have similar taste, then you’ll love this saddle-colored flat strappy sandal from Margaux. ATP Atelier’s black slide is chic and simple, with enough design detail to keep even the biggest fashionista happy. This black barely-there pair from Schutz is the closest you can get to not wearing shoes. I love everything white in the summer, from jeans to shirts, so why would sandals be any different? This knotted white pair from Mango is the perfect sandal to finish off a monochromatic look.
If a neutral sandal is my comfort zone, then sometimes I have to look outside of it. These leopard satin sandals with two straps are a perfect place to start. I’m imagining wearing these around the house with a flowy skirt and top for at-home date night. But the beauty of these is that I could just as easily wear with jeans. How about these snakeskin slides? Like so many of the other pairs, they’re minimalist and sexy, with a 90s vibe.
These beaded slides are a little more on the maximalist side, but keeping the color palette in yellow, creams and tan strikes the perfect balance. Blue is practically a neutral, especially in the summer, so give these beaded ocean blue slides a try.
