I have been very, very into quilted jackets. At a time when my brain isn’t really thinking about fashion in the same way it used to, a long quilted jacket is teaching me how to want things again. I think it’s because coats, especially something as utilitarian as quilted or puffer coats, are still so practical. Three-inch heels are not necessary, but coats are.
The long, quilted ones I’m loving right now are the perfect blend of fantasy and practicality. Like, sure I could wear this olive-colored Ganni coat on a long walk around my English country house. Even though I don’t have a country house, it will still look just as cute when I’m running errands. This long Barbour x Alexa Chung collab was actually inspired by the time she spends in her country house, so you can dress the part. This long version from & Other Stories even belts, making it equal parts bathrobe and jacket.
If you’re looking for something shorter, this renewably made light jacket from Everlane is a great option. I love the wavy, unexpected lines on this camel colored coat. The chic pattern on this ASOS jacket gives it a feminine touch.
Finally, the heavy hitters: the puffers. This white, fluffy jacket reminds me of a marshmallow. I meant that in a good way. Other food-adjacent looking puffers? This silver metallic piece, which looks like a popped bag of Jiffy Pop. Again, I mean that in a good way.
I love the intense, saturated color of this purple-y blue from H&M. This rust brown, faux-suede STAUD puffer is right on-trend, too. How about a 3-in-1 puffer from COS? You get a vest, cropped puff, and long coat all wrapped up in one pretty package.
