The 4 Trends We’re Most Excited About for Spring

Get ready for utility dressing, vintage-inspired florals, neutrals, and saturated colors.

The 4 Trends We’re Most Excited About for Spring

Trends are tricky. At the risk of sounding out of touch, there are plenty we just don’t get. Bicycle shorts, we’re talking to you. But there are plenty of others that work for anyone who’s interested. At the end of the day, trends are just for the young kids. We can join the cultural conversation in fashion too! So we broke down our four favorite for spring, and how we can wear them.

Utility Dressing

The ultimate in when fashion-meets-function, utility dressing is huge right now. That means plenty of pockets, comfortable cotton, and khaki. Even cargo pants are having a moment. The easiest and best interpretation of this trend for everyday is a jumpsuit. You’ll look cool, comfy, and most importantly? Since it’s a jumpsuit, it follows our high-impact, low-effort philosophy.

Florals

Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking, I know. But these aren’t your typical dainty florals. These are punchy, loud, and vintage-inspired. This season’s floral prints prove that ladylike doesn’t automatically mean boring. Appropriate for brunch or church, but just cool enough to look modern on a night out or a friend’s BBQ.

Neutrals

And not just wearing one or two pieces in a neutral. This is seriously chic, head-to-toe, monochromatic statement dressing in a cream or beige. The women over at Man Repeller call it “dressing like a stick of butter”, which sounds both delicious and comfortable. Take advantage of the weather turning and pair white jeans with a white statement shirt. Don’t be afraid of linen!!

Saturated Colors

Maybe neutrals aren’t your thing. May I introduce you to the bright, saturated colors that have taken over the runways? Pretty much any of the colors in the rainbow have been accounted for, although yellow and orange are the two hottest. There’s been some debate over at ITG Headquarters about this, so let me assure you: you can wear them both. And a special shoutout to women of color, who don’t need to worry about what shade is right because all the shades look amazing.

All of our recommendations are curated by Susan & the In The Groove editorial team. In some, but not all cases, we receive a small commission for leading you to what, how and where to buy all this wonderful stuff.
