I can’t believe I’m going to be 67 years old!!! This year when I was thinking abut what I wanted, I went straight to indulging. A splurge that I’ll use all the time, so I can feel less guilty about splurging. Like a new luxurious leather bag, an everyday piece of jewelry to stack, or the perfect pair of pumps. And to my fellow August Leos, happy birthday! It’s our season.
I’ve had my eye on this Goop G.Label dress for a while now, and my birthday felt like the perfect time to treat myself. It’s a different kind of floral dress – in fact it’s more like chinoiserie. The puff sleeve silhouette works in the heat of summer, and the pattern makes it a transitional season MVP.
When in doubt, Hermes is always a good gift. Especially when it’s also something practical. The Hermes Apple Watch is an easy way to elevate your smart watch, and the leather band is every bit as luxurious as everything else the house does.
Valentino looks really good lately! I want everything, but these square-toed gold slingback heels are the perfect amount of party and polish. I would wear them with everything from my go-to slouchy jeans, my favorite dresses for date night, or even a suit if I need to get really fancy.
Ok, let’s go for the BIG ONE: jewelry. It’s hard to justify buying jewelry “just because”, which means a birthday is the perfect time to really go for it. Retrouvai is a jewelry brand designed and made in Los Angeles that creates modern heirlooms. Their pieces are colorful, creative, and unique but still totally wearable. Their Compass necklace has been on my wishlist for ages. I would also take these 18-karat gold chandelier earrings from Irene Neuwirth, another LA brand.
