Everything old is new again, so this season’s hottest trend is one you’re probably familiar with: cargo pants! This is one I’m actually pretty excited about. The 2022 update still features plenty of pockets, but it gets updated with a wide leg silhouette that feels cooler and easier to wear than the skinny version before. I’m wearing these combat pants from ME + EM, which I love for the slouchy silhouette. Vince makes a classic wide-leg pair in a linen blend, perfect for the warmer months ahead. I also love them in a coastal navy, perfect with a white sweater. Leave it to Lauren Ralph Lauren to have a great pair of white utilitarian pants. I love the gold button detailing which feels like jewelry, and you can wear them like a regular pair of trousers.
If you don’t want to splurge, there are plenty of pants are a more affordable price point so you can dip your toe into the trend. These khaki pants from Mango can be styled like a classic chino pant. Aqua’s high rise pants have more of a jogger vibe, perfect for throwing on with sneakers or your favorite sandals this summer. For a more literal interpretation of the trend, what about a pair of camo-printed pants?
For a low-key take, I love this cropped cotton pair from Frame denim. Veronica Beard’s super high waisted, olive green pair definitely dresses up the trend, making it feel fancy and fashion-y. And on the flip side, Banana Republic’s slim joggers or Frank & Eileen’s California-cool pair make it easy to wear no matter what.
