I am always putting comfort over fashion these days but I’ll admit it – I still love a good heel. And this season, it’s all about the slingbac heels. They’re sexy, they’re a little bit retro, and best of all? The current version has a shorter heel, so I don’t have to give up any comfort after all.
Once again, Miuccia Prada proves she’s ultimate fashion It Girl with another trendsetting shoe: the triple buckle patent leather slingback. It’s the same shoe in the header picture, and there are a lot of details that make it special: the shine of the patent leather, the delicious red color, the tiny gold buckles on the criss-cross straps. But you don’t have to shell out the big bucks for a similar look. These Sam Edelman shoes will scratch that itch.
I’m really into a single buckle across the top of the foot, too, like an updated Mary Jane. These silver leather shoes from J.Crew , these red patent leather Sam Edelmans, or these midnight blue Reformation heels have a French feel to them. In fact, those eye-catching colors aren’t the only way to play around with your fashion boundaries.
Last year, Prada did mesh kitten heels. These year, Vince has their own version – albeit slightly more professional. I love the chocolate brown color! I already mentioned some patent leather options, but add an extra layer with an embossed crocodile print, like this other Vince number.
And then, there is the slingback’s more intellectual cousin: the T-strap. There’s something a little bit Kate Beckinsale in Pearl Harbor about them, but you can’t deny that these Anthropologie heels certainly make a statement. When in doubt, go for leopard print. These calf hair stunners from J.Crew will look delicious diva peeking out from underneath your favorite black trousers.
