It’s All In The Details

You know I’m always looking for things that look more expensive than they are, and two places I consistently find them are Zara and Massimo Dutti. Why? The details. A great button. Interesting stitching. An unexpected collar. Beautiful hardware. A sleeve with a little volume. Those small design decisions can take something pretty basic and make it look much more special.

And I think Zara and Massimo Dutti do this particularly well. Zara is where I tend to find the more fashion-forward pieces—the things that give you a little taste of what’s happening right now without spending a fortune. Massimo Dutti is a little quieter and more refined. Great fabrics, beautiful shapes, subtle details—the kind of pieces that can easily look like they cost considerably more than they do.
