I never thought I’d say this, but one of the pants I’m most excited about right now is the track pant—and no, I don’t mean for the gym. The new track pant is longer, wider and much more fashion than fitness. You’ll see classic black and navy with a simple side stripe, but also lots of great colors and unexpected combinations. And honestly, I think they’re a really fun alternative to jeans.
The trick is how you style them. Because the pant already has a sporty feel, I like to pair it with something that’s a bit of a contrast—a crisp button-down, a blazer or a lightweight knit. Sneakers always work, but try them with a flat, a pointy-toe shoe or even a kitten heel and suddenly the whole thing feels much more dressed.
They’re comfortable, they make a statement, and they’re an easy way to make the things you already own feel a little more current. I went looking for the ones I think are really good. Here are the track pants that made my cut…
