I have to admit, one of my all-time favorite shoes is the loafer. And if the last eight years have taught me anything, I think it might be one of your favorites too.But this season, the loafer looks a little different. It’s softer, more refined, incredibly comfortable—and very chic.
The ruched loafer is the one I keep seeing everywhere. Think less structured and preppy, and more relaxed and effortless. The look has definitely been inspired by designers like The Row, Saint Laurent and Prada, but the good news for all of us is that this season there are some really great versions at much more approachable prices.
They work with everything I already want to wear—jeans, wide-leg pants, skirts, even a great trouser—and they give an outfit that little update without trying too hard. If I were buying just one pair, I’d go with brown suede. It feels so right for fall and looks fabulous with denim, black, gray, camel…pretty much everything.
Although I have a feeling once you try these on, you may want two.
