But honestly, rain or no rain, I think a trench is one of those pieces everyone should have in their closet. It instantly finishes an outfit, works over everything from jeans to a dress, and right now it feels especially current. If you’re looking for a slightly more louche option, I love the effortless ‘throw it on and go’ appeal of the Reformation trench. The collar falls open, making it a great option for anyone who wants to show off a sweater underneath. Or just has a larger bust. It’s the kind of coat that would look great with a wrinkle in it.
