This isn’t an email about diet culture or trying to squeeze into a smaller size just because you need to become a “new you”. Instead, I want to live my healthiest life in 2023. The more active I am, the happier I am – even if I have to remind myself of that in the morning before a pilates class. After all, having cute athleisure clothes to work out in makes it that much easier to get out of bed.
Let’s start with the basics. You can’t go wrong with fresh black leggings to kick off the year. Vuori’s Daily Leggings are just that – the perfect everyday legging, even if you’re not making it to the gym. Zella’s high-waisted black leggings and Alo Yoga’s Airbrush pair are also reliable classics.

Aqua’s black sweater with cobalt blue varsity stripe detailing around the cuff is the perfect mix of fashion and athleisure.
For one step up from the essentials, I love Alala’s deep navy ribbed leggings. The texture really elevates the humble legging into more of a statement. Carbon38 has a ribbed pair as well, in a deep oak color that feels fashionable. Nike’s Metcon 4 shoe in a new white, blue, and black color way adds the perfect amount of edge to your day in the weight room.
But if you’re feeling a little bit extra, we can go a step further! I am fully obsessed with the Missoni x ACBC collaboration, which yielded the most beautiful pair of running shoes I’ve ever seen featuring the signature Missoni zigzag. Another way to get a little bit louder is with color instead of pattern. J.Crew’s hot pink leggings with black seams adds some edge to the usual Barbiecore trend.
