Black pants are the cornerstone of my fall and winter wardrobe, especially this super flattering cropped flare. Sometimes, you just want to feel like Audrey Hepburn! Luckily, they’re easy to find – at just about any price point. Below, some of our favorite black pants.
The reign of the kick flare isn’t going anywhere. Ever since High Sport burst onto the scene on the svelte behind of every major fashion editor on Instagram. But these are magical pants. They don’t look good only on svelte fashion editors. They’re universally flattering. In fact, the knit fabric actually sucks you in and up. No wonder Spanx makes a particularly good pair. They also make a slimmer pair of cigarette trousers that take the flare out of the equation.
I love the idea of the splurge, if not the reality, and these expensive black pants are never going out of style. On the spendier side, here are the infamous High Sport pair. Be warned, though, that they are an eye-popping $890. If can’t stomach that price, might I offer something else from ITG-favorite brand Veronica Beard and their rib-knit pant. At $398, it’s definitely still a splurge.
But at the end of the day, a great pair of pants doesn’t have to break the bank. You can easily dress up black pants with showier, splurge-ier items like a new pair of boots or a statement jacket. Enter Gap, who’s getting better every collection and chasing down J.Crew for mall supremacy. I love their denim, but their black trousers clear the sartorial bar, too. Look at these ankle-length crop pants. And of course, when in doubt, you can usually count on Quince. These ponte pants are more mid-calf than ankle, but still get the job done at $79.95…btw navy is $39.90.
