When it comes to basics, you can’t get more basic than a t-shirts. T-shirts are the foundational of every stylish woman’s wardrobe, providing a stylish piece that looks good under a favorite sweater or on its own. We rounded up our favorite white t-shirts, that also are black t-shirts , so you can let your basics shine.
To have a well-rounded toolbox of t-shirts, you’re going to need a couple in different fits that go with everything. Let’s start with a more fitted, everyday shirt that you can wear with a couple different kinds of pants or skirts. The classics! Everlane’s Cotton Crew is the shirt that created the millennial Gap brand, and it still holds up. And speaking of Gap, they’ve been looking really good lately! Their organic cotton t-shirt looks especially chic tucked in, and at $17.50, you don’t have to freak out if you spill a little something on it.
The crewneck is ideal for layering, but in the summer I sometimes crave a v-neck. It’s a little more skin, and a great way to offset a longer skirt or oversized trousers. Of course you can rely on J.Crew for a modern American staple, and I love their vintage cotton v-neck too. Banana Republic’s version is a little slouchier, ideal for tucking into boyfriend white jeans. I love the fluttery, longer sleeve on this Velvet by Graham & Spencer t-shirt.
If you want to splurge on a t-shirt, I can’t recommend the ATM one enough. It’s what I’m wearing in the header photo! And there are certain brands you just know you can rely on for classic with enough of a modern edge, like rag & bone’s The Tee or Vince’s Essential Crewneck.
