I’ve been wearing a lot of blue and white right now, during this weird rainy not-winter, not-spring in LA. It just feels so fresh and crisp after a season of heavy cashmere and my dark neutrals. Shop our edit to see why blue and white is your transitional wardrobe’s best friend.
This Jonathan Simkhai dress was the kickoff for the this whole story. I love how fresh it feels, and the rather unexpected use of the blue. There are plenty of gorgeous stripes out there, but isn’t this tweedy marled yarn lady jacket from J.Crew something special? Or this painterly abstract print on a Banana Republic shirtdress? I love the super intricate, almost mosiac-like print of this Tuckernuck blouse.
A navy blazer and white jeans are one of my go-to outfits through warmer weather, but I might switch it up with this baby blue Veronica Beard number. Banana Republic’s captain blazer, shining with brass buttons, and J.Crew’s stretch linen blazer are more traditional options. Finally, although the season is almost over, I plan to wear Banana Republic’s boyfriend cashmere polo long into chilly summer nights.
There’s nothing I love more than a freshly ironed, oversized shirt. The crisper and bigger, the better. J.Crew’s Etienne shirt fits the bill perfectly, and it comes in every combination of blue and white you can dream of. Dark and light blue and white stripes, light blue, plain white. Tuckernuck’s blue-and-white boyfriend shirt is less boxy and cropped. Of course, there’s always the lovely Frank & Eileen to rely on for a wonderful deep navy shade.
I love this extremely floppy denim hat for summer, which feels like something Martha Stewart would wear by her flagstaff swimming pool or for gardening. And finally, it’s not clothes, but I just love this almost periwinkle colored wine glass from Estelle colored glass. I would put them out for my first al fresco dinner.
