Castañer is the original espadrille brand. A family run company that’s been around since 1790, they have some seriously stylish street cred. In the 70s, Yves Saint Laurent was wandering through a Spanish market and asked if they would make a heeled espadrille for one of the YSL shows. The Castañer family quickly agreed, and it’s been a designer darling ever since.
Ever since then, the Spanish shoe company has partnered with designer brands to offer a variety of stylish footwear. The best part? They’ve kept the shoes completely affordable. The wedges come in different sizes, which is perfect for anyone who has developed an aversion to high heels. Castañer opened its very first store in Barcelona in the 90s, but you can shop the brand on fashion’s best e-tailers like MatchesFashion and Net-A-Porter.
Currently, Castañer has a collaboration out with Missoni. The colorful, printed fabrics and espadrille bottoms are basically summer in a shoe. We love their take on a classic espadrille in an iconic Missoni print. Even if you’re not jet setting to your favorite Mediterranean hotspot this summer, you’ll at least feel like you are in these shoes. It’s not Missoni, but this strawberry embroidered pair of espadrille wedges is absolutely adorable.
