Sometimes, all you need to make an outfit is a really great cashmere sweater. I’m not talking about a basic crewneck. There should be something special about it! These cashmere sweaters are anything but basic. A bold color, pretty buttons, or a dramatic sleeve can turn a standard outfit into a memorable one.
In the header image, I’m wearing this cotton candy pink brushed cashmere sweater. It feels plucked right out of Elle Woods’s closet! At first I thought the texture would be itchy or fuzzy, but it feels like you’re wrapped in the softest, coziest blanket. Texture’s having a bit of a moment this season. I also love the more relaxed fit of this boyfriend sweater in a rich navy (or you can keep thinking pink) and COS’s extremely cool heather gray hoodie.
In a sea of wintry neutrals, a bright color will always stick out. Me + Em’s orchid pink sweater might feel spring-y, but I love wearing it with a gray or brown trouser to ground it a bit. I love the 70’s bell sleeve and sky blue color of this Anthropologie sweater. The swing-y sleeves and longer length would look great with a kicky flare pant and your favorite party shoe. Alex Mill’s rollneck cardigan is just the right amount of prim in a perfect holiday red.
One way to make your favorite neutrals a little more special? Attention to details! A navy zip-up with a two-way zipper feels unbelievably fresh, like a mix between a blazer and your favorite sweatshirt. COS’s chunky pure cashmere crewneck has deliciously thick ribbing on the hem, collar, and sleeves to really elevate the piece. La Ligne’s collared polo sweater in a striking cobalt looks just as good with slouchy jeans as a leather midi skirt and tall boots. And you can never go wrong with cable-knit, especially in a this subtle marshmallow color from Naadam.
