Have you heard that it’s a Sambas girl summer? Ever since Mary-Kate Olsen was seen wearing her Sambas around, the shoe just keeps popping up on everyone from Bella Hadid to Katie Holmes. We love our Sambas, but there are plenty of other classic sneakers to go around! The best part? These nostalgic tennis shoes won’t break your budget.
So yes, as you can see, I’m loving my Sambas. Especially in black, which doesn’t feel like your typical summer sneaker. The white is great too!But if you’re not quite feeling the Sambas, there are plenty of Adidas shoes to pick from. It doesn’t get more summery than a crisp pair of Stan Smiths, complete with the freshly trimmed lawn green accent color. This is a shoe I also love using in fall and winter as a contrast to a heavy pair of black wool pants. These blue steel-y grey suede Gazelles will work through the fall too, and have a slightly more feminine look than the Sambas.
You can’t get more classic than a pair of vintage Nikes. This summer, I’ve been seeing a lot of people wearing the Nike Cortez in a way that feels really fresh. Unlike most sneakers, these actually make your feet look smaller – and the slightly puffy vibe of the shoe does give off some Bottega Veneta vibes. I think they look best with chinos or other preppy outfits because they have just enough of an edge. Their Daybreak sneaker has a decidedly sporty edge to it that I always love, too. These are in white but I think this shoe is a great way to get a pop of color in.
When in doubt, don’t overthink it. A pair of black Converse have always been, and will always be, cool. Pretty easy to style, too. Maybe throw in a pair of pink ones too for your own personal Barbieheimer moment.
