When was the last time you went on a proper date night? During the pandemic, my date nights with Bob turned into a lot of takeout on the sofa. But with things opening up again and both of us safely vaccinated, it’s time to start eating out at restaurants again. Which also means it’s time to dress up! Whether it’s a fun, femme-y white top or the perfect dress, these are the date night looks that make me feel my best.
Look 1
This is my go-to look, because you can dress it up or down and still feel great. The basic formula is kimono + jeans + wedge.
You can wear a kimono so many ways that if you invest in one, your cost per wear will go down. I love Johnny Was, and you could wear this kimono for the rest of your life. But that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank. Anthropologie’s printed duster is gorgeous, and a masterclass in mixing patterns. I love the trouser jeans from Citizens, especially with a fun gold heel.
Look 2
The formula for the second look is sundress + jean jacket + wedge. This is obviously on the dressier side, but there’s something that just makes me feel good about putting on a pretty dress for a date. You can have a Julia Roberts moment in a polka-dotted number, more bohemian in this block-print dress from Sezane, or super-femme in a floral dress with puffy sleeves. Just throw on a cropped jean jacket and a comfy wedge, and you’re good to go.
Look 3
Finally, last but not least, we have a feminine blouse + white jeans + heeled sandal. I love the color combination of lavender and white, so this lavender eyelet blouse with puffy sleeves from Mango is perfect. Just throw on a pair of wide-leg jeans or trusty J.Crew boyfriend cut jeans, add a cute sandal like these puffy white mules or these tan block heels, and you’ll be good to go.
