As editors, we spend a lot of time looking at fantastic, beautiful things. We don’t spend that much time wearing them, especially right now. Our daily uniform is full of the trusty basics we talk about so much here: straight leg denim, white button-downs, comfy shoes. But today is not about our daily uniform. Our editor’s picks are all about the statement coats, boots, sweaters, and bags we want to add to our wardrobe.
I’m starting to think about bags again. I knew my Bottega Veneta obsession couldn’t stay dormant for long, and the Intrecciato tote is at the top of my wish list. I guess the quilted look is on the brain, because I love this silvery tech fabric purse and a quilted denim bag.
Black boots are a purchase I never have to justify, because I wear them so often. They look good with jeans, with trousers, even with dresses. These Jimmy Choo biker boots will add a little bit of edge to any outfit, and these Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots are elegant. For more of a splurge, these snake print boots with a comfortable sized heel would look incredible with a black midi-skirt and a giant, cozy sweater, like this fringed number.
This color-blocked turtleneck is a masterclass in understated elegance. This faux-fur checked cream and chocolate brown coat from Stand Studio? To die for. I would wear it with jeans, a white t-shirt, and flat black boots. Another equally stylish option? Ganni’s quilted ripstop coat, in an olive green shade that always feels unexpected and extremely chic. It looks like the kind of coat I would wear during a weekend in the English country, if I had a house in the English country. This double-breasted faux-fur coat is a throwback to the best of the 80s.
