I used to think Eileen Fisher was a brand for “old ladies” – even though I’m not exactly a young lady myself. But when I checked it out recently, I was pleasantly surprised. The pieces look expensive, chic, and not that different from big money brands like The Row. Nice materials, breezy silhouettes, and a neutral color palette? What’s not to love?
While I never say no to anything because of my age, I have noticed that I wear cropped tops a lot less than I used to. I like a little coverage over my butt! In the header I’m wearing this bone-colored crepe top – but it also comes in black. It’s a top that feels dressy without being fussy, and the v-neck shows a little skin to break up the clothing. I love to wear with a scarf tied around my neck or a stack of chunky necklaces. For something slightly sexier, I love this semi-sheer mock neck with 3/4 sleeves. It looks like something an off-duty ballet dancer would wear, but I would style it with palazzo pants and big silver Elsa Peretti bone cuffs.
The silk georgette crepe straight pant caught my eye right away. It really feels like it captures the fashion moment right now! So many brands like The Row or Toteme are churning out retro-chic, ladylike silhouettes with a modern bend – and that’s exactly what these pants are! The same goes for the washable wide leg pant, and the stretch jersey pant. These are pieces that can slide from loungewear to cocktails with the addition of a great blazer, a kitten heel, and some costume jewelry.
And if true loungewear is what you’re after, then look no further than this tonal twill set. There’s a blousy elbow-length sleeve and a trouser-y comfy pant that remind me of some of my favorite Frank and Eileen travel sets.
