Eyelet is a quintessentially summery fabric. Like peanut butter and chocolate, eyelet and summer are a perfect match. The crisp, clean white and the breezy patterns make it perfect for hot days and long nights. But this season’s eyelet is so much more, with modern updates like bright colors and unexpected silhouettes. It’s classic with a twist, which is pretty much our fashion MO.
Let’s start with at the top. And by that, I mean with romantic, femme blouses that will dress up your favorite pair of jeans for date night or al fresco dinner parties. This Edwina blouse from Anthropologie has an extra large pattern that feels contemporary, but still sexy. I love this En Saison blouse in a chic beige, which would go perfectly with white jeans. Don’t feel like going full fancy? That’s fine, too! A cute t-shirt with eyelet sleeves goes with just about anything, and I love the tiny frill detail on this puff sleeve.
One of my favorite ways to wear eyelet? In a cute sundress, like this classic Lily Pulitzer shirtdress. You can always count on J.Crew for a perfect preppy moment, and this puff-sleeve dress will keep you cool but looking hot. If you’re craving a little more color, I love the pink embroidery and flared cap sleeve on this Lily dress, too.
And eyelet looks good in every color, not just white. Take this black blouse, for example. Or this hot pink maxidress, which would be great for any beach-y weddings you have coming up this summer. This J.Crew top in a cool shade of ice-blue is fresh and peppy, and it comes in pink, too!
Finally, why not throw on an eyelet bucket hat when you’re walking around on the golf course or at the beach? J.Crew has an adorable one, and Free People’s is a little more boho.
