I don’t know about you, but I am over summer. I’m dreaming of crisp fall air, lattes instead of cold brew, and a gorgeous new coat to bundle up in. When I found this J.Crew chino blazer, I knew I found my stepping stone. It’s all about finding fall jackets that will work over a tank top now, and my favorite sweater after.
I already mentioned I’m wearing this olive green chino-y blazer in the header image. A chore coat is a perfect in between seasonal piece, because it’s so easily layerable. You can wear a tank, a t-shirt, or even a sweater underneath. The utilitarian vibe of a chore coat can keep things casual, or add interesting contrast to a slightly dressier outfit. Plus, tons of pockets! This dark green Alex Mill coat, this Free People coat, or this Anine Bing green coat with brown leather pocket are all great options.
One of my favorite coat trends that’s not going away is the quilted jacket. After all, if you can’t spend the fall traipsing around your English country estate, you might as well be dressed like it! This khaki Barbour jacket, complete with a corduroy collar, is as classic as you can get. On the trendier side, Alpha Industries’s liner jacket has a little bit of bomber edge to it and this navy-and-forest green Veronica Beard reversible jacket plays gives you two jackets for the price of one!
Maybe you want to make more of a statement. You can play around with color or silhouette, like this Anthropologie bomber jacket with ruffled, feminine sleeves. It’s such a fun way to play with the masculine expectations of a bomber jacket. On the color side, I love the butter yellow shade of this COS jacket. The shape is pretty classic, so the color is the unexpected angle.
