In Los Angeles, we’re in the middle of a heat wave. It is HOT out there, and the thought wearing anything with a waistband feels absolutely torturous. Enter: my favorite Frank and Eileen summer dresses. No clingy or form-fitting dresses, nothing in a heavy fabric. Just beautiful breezy clothes that I feel fresh in.
In the header image, I’m wearing the Daphne dress. There are so many details I love, like the popover collar and the loose-enough but still there waist element. I’m wearing the biscuit color, but it comes in th classic neutrals you’d expect from Frank and Eileen like a bright white and a nautical navy. The Cory is basically one long comfy tank dress, perfect for rolling out of the shower and throwing something on. Since the silhouette is so casual, I think a little color makes it feel more special like this cherry red.
Often, I find myself reaching for a shirtdress in extreme heat. The buttons give make a blousy dress feel a little more put-together and flattering.Take this knee-length Southern Ireland dress, for example. It’s the right amount of fitted without being uncomfortable, and you can easily dress it up with espadrilles or throw it over your bathing suit. On the more relaxed side of things, the Rory maxi shirtdress is a little more conservative. I like the cheerful, rainbow-colored tiny floral print and their new washed linen options, especially in a sage green.
If you’re in the mood to show a little leg, all the more power to you! The Mary dress is one of the brand’s newer offerings, and I love the beachy blue and white stripe version. A flamingo pink color is a little louder, for the maximalists out there. You can also easily layer the dress over a favorite pair of flow pants, in case you want the extra coverage.
