In the winter, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut of dark colors and party clothes. It feels like I’m always reaching for a pair of black pants and a black cashmere sweater. But the old fashion rules are dead, and a Frank and Eileen winter white outfit is a cheery balm.
Winter whites bring brightness and freshness to short, dark days. And no one does brightness better than Frank and Eileen! Of course, there are a few ways to make it more seasonally appropriate. Instead of lightweight cotton poplin, the brand’s signature Eileen button-down comes in a cozy triple fleece fabric. It’s more of a French terry than a true fleece – warm, but not too warm. In fact, their triple fleece is a winter MVP. Look at this pretty Effie capelet. Somewhere in between a blouse and a sweatshirt, I love the elegant funnel neck and the sleeves that can scrunch up.
Frank and Eileen also makes my favorite kind of sweats. Undeniably comfortable, but not slouchy or sloppy. Their hoodie is just cropped enough, making it a perfect layering piece for your favorite button downs or longer t-shirts. For sweatpants, I love how 80’s the silhouette is on their Eamon pants. High-waisted but not too tight, with a slim tapered leg that’s universally flattering.
Winter white doesn’t have to mean snow white, either. You can play around with other warm neutrals like cream or even a nice camel. The Monterey cotton sweater is a best-seller, with a beautiful striped pattern that’s a little more interesting than a true neutral. While all of their pieces are classics, I’m particularly fond of the Montecito sweater in a delicious creamy color. The ribbing, especially the collar, and effortless swing-y shape remind me of the golden era of J.Crew sweaters from the 90s.
