Why do we love Oprah so much? Is it her ability to connect with people or perhaps her interest in doing good and being good? She is continually being tested and she continues to ah-maze. Oprah is “every woman” but mostly she is her own woman and that includes her style. Rarely will you see Oprah bowing uncomfortably to fashion, and if you do, it’s probably because some stylist or magazine editor has convinced her to take a dive for fashion’s sake. Can you imagine the chaos of Oprah’s almost epic fashion fail during last summer’s Royal Wedding…or can we? We are guessing that if Oprah had to wear the white dress, she would have worn it well. Head high and Oprah proud. But counting Stella McCartney among her inner circle was her fail-safe and off she went to Meaghan and Harry’s nuptials all prettied up in last minute pink.
Oprah has said: “”It’s much easier for me to make major life, multi-million dollar decisions than it is to decide on a carpet for my front porch. That’s the truth.” We imagine that like most of us, she has a similar difficulty with what to wear to a big event, and also like most of us, her everyday style is more at her own whim. Adam Glassman is in charge of cover shots for the magazine and has a great grasp on what flies in Oprah-ville. Green is her favorite color, but she wears all the colors of the rainbow. Apparently Oprah is well aware of her fashion hits and misses and takes them in stride. Her sense of humor about clothes is in tact and so is her confidence.
We chose this photo of Oprah for “Get The Look” as it is a look she has on replay: nice pop of color on top, in this case a pale peachy pink three quarter sleeve top over slim white ankle length pants. She always carries a great bag, no exception is this summertime woven white tote and of course a chic oversized white enamel watch is her big accessory. The sactual sandals in the picture are anyone’s guess but we think the Divine Ms. O, would like the reasonable heel height and comfort of these lower wedges because Oprah knows, when your feet hurt, it won’t be a good day even if “you get a car!”
