On days when I’m feeling sartorially uninspired, there is one woman I can always count on to pull me out of it: Linda Wright. If you don’t know who she is, you’re going to love her. She’s an incredibly chic French women who lives in Paris, owns a cashmere store, and always looks incredible. Her elegant, effortless style is certainly worth imitating. Plus, there are no rules anymore. You can totally wear white after Labor Day. In fact, I hope this outfit proves that you absolutely should.
Start with the white jeans. You’ll need something straight but not skinny, like these high-rise pants from Mango. I also love the subtle crop and flare on this pair from J.Crew, all the better to show off the shoes you’ll be wearing. My go-to t-shirt is always Everlane’s cotton crew, but I love the longer sleeve on this tee from Club Monaco, too. And it’s perfect for layering under a matching black cardigan. You can either go with this cotton one, if it’s still really hot by you, or you can grab a cashmere one and wear it the rest of the year. This shrunken cashmere sweater from Vince is a great way to play with proportions.
On to the accessories! You’re going to need a pair of classic black shades, like these from Ray-Ban. Layer on a long, gold chain. I love Alighieri’s romantic, retro pieces like this one. This gold medallion with a lion etching feels plucked out of the Coliseum. You know I love a Birkenstock, and so does Linda Wright. You can go classic with the Arizona big buckle style, or really go for it with the elevated Arizona leather pair.
Finally, get a bike. It’s COVID friendly, it’s great exercise, and it’s just a nice change of pace. Sometimes, that’s what we need the most right now.
